Fascinating stuff which covers more ground than I thought from the brief media coverage but still fails to address the problem that police use the media to provoke further allegations, be they true or false.

Which is dangerous (even non celebrities suffer from this in local media).

Until the basic anomaly in the law is corrected, police will continue to get media publicity either by charging on arrest or - as in the case of Cliff - by raiding without arresting.

Then people are provoked into making claims and, unless the police are incredibly honourable and efficient, innocent people will continue to be prosecuted and convicted for crimes that never took place.
