I set off early to miss the crowds and get the sunshine - drove to Charterhouse, my old school near Godalming (I only go there during the holidays so the haters have no negative story) - it was beautiful in the sun, not a soul there; took loads of photos and had many memories.
Then via Cranleigh (our local small town) - the cinema at which I watched The Blackboard Jungle with Rock Around The Clock has been demolished and replaced by two big houses; Dirk Bogarde who lived opposite will be turning in his grave.
Our beautiful old house Cobbetts has been gutted - fair enough - after 600 years it needed new plumbing and electrics but it's still sad.
And back in time for a bit of carnival which looked peaceful and happy; I've lived here since the very beginning of the Carnival. I just hate those bloody whistles!
