I rather enjoyed the last Bond rewrite by Sebastian Faulks and Deaver is a competent writer so I bought Carte Blanche with eager anticipation.

Sadly, of course Fleming himself was a crap writer but rather like Dan Brown, he had one great talent; you could not put the damn things down. Deaver does not have the same ability.

Cardboard characters and thin plot; unbelievable; ordinary.
