I have a theory. It is now so easy to make and release music that a) there is no filter process and b) there is no longer the financial constriction to make something, pay for it, studios, musos, to convince a label to spend a fortune putting it out, promoting it, breaking it...
So kids spend less time and creative energy, settle for below average quality, just want it out there, cheap video, off to party thank you...
What we need (and what I'd like to do) is a fantastic, weekly, prime time TV show and a terrific radio station, run by someone with great ears and a very high quality control threshold.
Then magnificent, cross over hits will return.
