In her ruling HHJ Taylor said... "This is not, therefore, a case which has been driven by complainants’ allegations, in fact, under the banner of justice for the victims, but by concerns about reputational damage to Surrey police in the wake of the Savile case and the consequent Merseyside investigation".
This is an appalling situation. Police motives to be driven by reasons such as protecting their reputation from the truth is extraordinary. In a democracy, this should be criminal behaviour.
