Of course the 60s and 70s were basically my decades of great music; still involved in the 80s (mainly through TV and radio) and even the 90s (the Tipsheet - which still continues here in the Noughties and Tensies).

But I think music means less to today's listener.

It is now a luxury; nice but not vital.

To my generation it was like air or water - essential. The big summer hits this year - 2017, are Sheeran's Shape of You and Despacito. But - whilst they are as good as hits from the past (to me Despacito is simply 2017's Macarena), I don't think they come any longer up there with our 60s and 70s hits.
