Surely anybody with more than one brain cell can see that, if a terrorist or suicide bomber wants to blow up a plane, and hasn't yet clicked that laptops and tablets are no longer the way, would, tomorrow, change their one way tickets to go via Paris or Madrid or Copenhagen?

Yes, terribly annoying to have to change flights on your way to paradise but hey, those virgins will wait.
